Hahn, Horvath Proclaim Human Trafficking Prevention Month in LA County
January 6, 2026
Supervisors promote County’s ongoing awareness campaigns and survivor support, among other efforts
Los Angeles, CA – This morning, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a motion by Supervisors Janice Hahn and Lindsey P. Horvath that proclaims January 2026 as “Human Trafficking Prevention Month” in the County, as well as a similar motion by Supervisor Hilda L. Solis. Hahn and Horvath’s motion also reaffirmed the County’s commitment to providing survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive services, and promoting its public awareness campaigns.
Supervisors Janice Hahn and Lindsey P. Horvath issued the following statements:
“Survivors of human trafficking have to know not only that Los Angeles County stands with them, but that our approach is putting them front and center. I’m proud that LA County continues to be a national leader in how we address human trafficking and exploitation by shifting away from law enforcement responses and punishment for those being trafficked, and instead toward recognizing the deep trauma survivors face and molding our approach to meet their needs,” said Supervisor Janice Hahn.
“In Los Angeles County, we are committed to a public health approach to addressing human trafficking by strengthening prevention efforts, supporting survivors, and addressing the conditions that increase vulnerability,” said Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath. “Recognizing Human Trafficking Prevention Month is an opportunity to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and reinforce coordinated, trauma-informed responses across our communities.”
