Hahn Releases Statement on Rehiring of Second Fired Deputy Michael Courtial

Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Janice Hahn has released the following statement regarding the recent rehiring of a Sheriff’s deputy who had been previously fired for excessive use of force:

“This is yet another concerning revelation out of our Sheriff’s Department. Rehiring a deputy who was fired for excessive force sends a disturbing message—that this type of behavior is tolerated. This erodes the public’s trust in those who are tasked with serving and protecting them. I hope this doesn’t represent pattern and practice for this Sheriff.”
