This will be Hahn’s 17th in a string of buyback events, collecting more than 2,900 firearms

Long Beach, CA— Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn is partnering with the Long Beach Police Department to hold a completely anonymous gun buyback event on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The event will run from 9am to 1pm and offers an opportunity for residents to exchange any firearm for gift cards.

“This is my office’s 17th gun buyback and I have come to think of them as a public service,” said Supervisor Hahn. “I have talked to people who had unwanted guns for years but didn’t know how to get rid of them. I know people worry about what would happen if their guns were stolen or found by their kids. This buyback is a safe, anonymous, and easy way to get firearms out of your home and give you some peace of mind. I’m grateful to the Long Beach Police Department for partnering with me to make this happen.”

Next month’s event takes place during Gun Violence Awareness Month and will be the seventeenth gun buyback event Hahn has held in her district. Between the previous events held in Lynwood, Long Beach, Norwalk, Wilmington, Hawaiian Gardens, Artesia, Bellflower, Torrance, Pico Rivera and South Whittier, Hahn’s initiative has accepted and destroyed more than 2,900 unwanted firearms.

Long Beach Police officers will run the event while Hahn’s office will provide the gift cards to participants. There are important guidelines to participating in the buyback that ensure the safety of the public and officers. Participants should not arrive on foot or transit and should transport firearms unloaded and in the trunk of a vehicle.

“I am pleased to be partnering with the county on this upcoming Gun Buy Back. This is an opportunity to raise community awareness and focus on reducing gun violence” said LBPD Chief Wally Hebeish. “We remain committed to supporting programs which can reduce the availability and accessibility of firearms in our community.”

Participants will receive gift cards in amounts according to the type of gun exchanged.
• Non-functioning firearms or parts: $50
• Working pistols, rifles, shotguns: $100
• Ghost guns: $200
• Assault rifles: $300

3D and homemade guns will be evaluated for value on the day of the event. Gift card quantities are limited and subject to availability.
