San Pedro, CA — Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn has announced that a free COVID-19 testing kiosk has opened today at the USS Iowa, located at 250 S. Harbor Boulevard in San Pedro.
“Our vaccination effort is our top priority– but until everyone has the opportunity to get vaccinated testing is an important part of slowing the spread of this virus and protecting our community,” said Supervisor Hahn. “This new free testing kiosk at the USS Iowa is going to be a quick, accessible way for dockworkers and harbor area residents to get tested and get results quickly.”
Erika Velazquez and Matt Johnson are first two people to be tested at new testing kiosk at the USS Iowa.
The testing kiosk at the USS Iowa – launching in partnership between LA County and Fulgent Genomics Laboratories — will be open 7 days a week from 10 AM to 5 PM and is able to do 500 PCR nasal swab tests per day. Insurance is not required.
“COVID-19 testing is as important as ever,” said Dr. Clemens Hong, with the Department of Health Services, who oversees COVID-19 testing for Los Angeles County. “We’re thankful that fewer people are being hospitalized and more people are getting vaccinated. Still, we can’t let our guard down and we must ensure everyone who needs a test can get one quickly. Even as the situation improves, the County will continue to add more testing, including partnerships with local cities and pop-up sites like these.”
Both walk-ins and scheduled appointments are accepted. Appointments can be scheduled by visiting la.fulgentgenetics.com/appointment. Test results will be available within 24 to 48 hours.
