Hahn Calls for Investigation into Long Vote Center Wait Times on Election Night, Fixes before November

Los Angeles, CA — Today, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn called for hours-long wait times reported on Election Night at LA County Vote Centers to be investigated and for solutions to be implemented ahead of the November general election.

“The hours-long wait times that many voters experienced on election night are unacceptable,” said Supervisor Janice Hahn. “This new voting system was meant to make the voting process easier and more accessible for voters with opportunities to vote-in-person over 11 days, machines designed for people of all abilities, and multi-lingual ballot marking devices.  Some hiccups are to be expected with a new system – but there were widespread reports of problems.  We need a full investigation of the challenges that voters faced, and these issues need to be fixed before this November.”

Supervisor Hahn will ask her colleagues on the Board of Supervisors to approve a motion this afternoon instructing the LA County Registrar Recorder to investigate the challenges that voters experienced both on election day as well as all days County residents were able to vote, including excessive wait times as well as staffing and technical challenges and report back in 45 days with corrective measures that will be put in place prior to the upcoming general election this November.
