Los Angeles, CA – Today, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a motion by Supervisor Janice Hahn to establish the County’s $20,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the August 21, 2025 shooting death of 36-year-old Marc Sweet in the City of Pico Rivera.
“No one should die because of a disagreement or an argument on the road,” said Hahn. “Marc was a beloved son, sibling and mentor to young athletes. Help us bring some closure to all those who loved him.”
On the night of August 21, 2025, Sweet was driving his vehicle when he had a verbal altercation with a male pedestrian near the intersection of Washington Blvd. and Passons Blvd. The pedestrian then walked into a gas station parking lot. Sweet then drove into the same parking lot, exited his vehicle and approached the pedestrian. At approximately 8:56pm, deputies from the Sheriff’s Pico Rivera Station responded to reports of shots fired at the gas station and found Sweet with gunshot wounds. He was transported to Saint Francis Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:35pm. The suspect had walked away.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Lt. Daniel Vizcarra of the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500, or the Crime Stoppers Hotline at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
