Supervisors Back Hong Kong Citizens in Struggle for Democracy

Los Angeles, CA— Today, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, led by Chair Janice Hahn voiced their support for the residents of Hong Kong engaged in massive peaceful protests for freedom and democracy.

The board passed a motion authored by Supervisor Janice Hahn to stand in support of the struggle for democracy in Hong Kong and encouraged China and Hong Kong to come to a mutual agreement that brings lasting democratic freedoms and liberties to the citizens of Hong Kong.

“The citizens of Hong Kong are in an incredible struggle to preserve their democracy. Each of these peaceful protesters is undertaking great personal risk. Their dedication to their cause and the hardships these protesters have had to endure are inspiring and I am proud to say they have the support of the leaders of the largest county in the United States.”
