Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn Issues Statement on Arrests of Shooting Suspects

Los Angeles, CA—Supervisor Janice Hahn released the following statement regarding the arrests made of two suspects in a shooting rampage that took place late Sunday night into early Monday morning in the cities of Bell, Huntington Park, Cudahy, and the unincorporated community of Florence-Firestone. In total, four people were killed including a 14-year-old boy and another teen was wounded.

“The last 48 hours have been heartbreaking and terrifying for our Southeast LA community. I am grateful that Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives, in partnership with the police departments of Bell and Huntington Park, were able to act quickly and bring two suspects into custody in less than 48 hours. This took an around the clock effort and demonstrates a commitment to the safety and well-being of our residents that I truly appreciate. This continues to be an active investigation and I am urging anyone who has any information about these shootings or any additional suspects to please call in and report what you know to our Sheriff’s Department.”

This afternoon, Supervisor Hahn spoke to the media at a press conference at the Hall of Justice alongside Sheriff’s Department officials, Bell Police Chief Carlos Islas, Huntington Park Police Chief Lozano, Bell Mayor Fidencio Gallardo, Bell Councilmember Ali Saleh, Cudahy Vice Mayor Liz Alcantar, and Huntington Park Councilmember Arturo Flores.
