Supervisor Hahn Welcomes President of County Assembly of Dalmatia to LA County

Today, Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Janice Hahn welcomed Petroslav Sapunar, President of the County Assembly of Dalmatia, Croatia to Los Angeles County. She recognized the County Assembly President at this week’s meeting of the Board of Supervisors.

Sapunar represents the City of Split on the Dalmatian County Assembly and is here to join Croatian-American communities celebrating the 30th anniversary of Splitska Noc, an event that celebrates St. Domnius, the patron of Split. While the main celebration takes places in Split, the Sister City of Los Angeles, communities around the world will also celebrate the occasion.  The Croatian Heritage Foundation, which focuses on maintaining cultural bonds with Croatian clubs and communities around the world, organized for Sapunar to visit San Pedro.

“When I served on the LA City Council, I was honored to represent the City on a sister city visit to the City of Split, the homeland of so many of my constituents in San Pedro” said Supervisor Janice Hahn.  “I received such a warm welcome on that trip and it seemed only right that do the same for Mr. Sapunar during his visit to Los Angeles.”

Supervisor Hahn represents the Los Angeles community of San Pedro which is home to 30,000 Croatian-Americans.
