Supervisor Hahn Votes in Favor of 1-seat Ride to Union Station on Metro’s Upcoming West Santa Ana Branch Line

Today, after listening to residents of the Gateway Cities speak out in favor of a 1-seat ride to Union Station, Supervisor Janice Hahn and her colleagues on the Metro Board of Directors voted unanimously to move Alternative E forward.  Supervisor Hahn also seconded a motion by Mayor Garcetti to remove Alternative F from consideration, which would have placed an unfair burden on the residents of Little Tokyo.

“Residents of the Gateway Cities have spoken loud and clear- they want a 1-seat ride to Union Station but not at the expense of the Little Tokyo community. Today, we came together and found a solution which provides Gateway residents with a quick, convenient ride to Union Station while respecting the needs of Little Tokyo residents.”

Metro staff reported that Alternative E will have the highest daily ridership and quickest travel time.

The West Santa Ana Branch line will connect residents of Downey, Artesia, Cerritos, Paramount, and Bellflower with Downtown Los Angeles. It is on schedule to be completed by 2028, years ahead of schedule.
