Supervisor Hahn Issues Statement on Clean Air Action Plan Vote

San Pedro, CA—Today, Supervisor Janice Hahn released the following statement following unanimous approval by both the Long Beach and Los Angeles Harbor Commissions of the Clean Air Action Plan:

We enacted the Clean Air Action Plan in 2006 because although our ports were an economic engine, they were the largest source of pollution in the region.

That plan worked. We cut emissions in half even while port productivity has soared. But we are far from finished. With the passage of the new Clean Air Action plan, our ports are on the path to zero emissions and becoming the cleanest ports in the world.

I want to thank Mayor Garcetti and Mayor Garcia for their leadership and the Harbor Commissioners for their courageous vote today. We do not have to choose between clean air and good jobs– we can have both.
