L.A. County Dept of Health has listed the infection and death rates for COVID-19. There are over 10 million people living here and the supervisors want to keep non-essentials shut down until August! Sana, My experience is that your comment stands a better chance of being read if you post it on Hahn’s Facebook page. Post on the one where Hahn is wearing a mask.

Why are we enforcing face covering while in open air like parks, trail, or golf courses. People are freaking out if passing by someone who is not wearing mask. Medically, the chance of contracting a virus that is transmitted by droplets simply by walking by a covid positive patient is basically zero, while inhaling fresh air is a healthy thing to do. I am a physician, I wear a mask all day. It is not healthy and very possible that people are re inhaling their own CO2 especially with home made masks. I saw on You Tube a tutorial on how to make a mask when the lady puts a paper between two layers of cloth!!. Many say they feel a little “light headed” when they wear the mask for too long. Unless it is a bandanna that is open at the bottom which does NOTHING and will allow droplets to spread. Please take off the requirement to wear a mask. PLease open up our beaches and the Strand in the south Bay cities. I urge you to discuss with a other medical sources especially physicians who are practicing doctors taking care of ICU patients and know the rules of isolation. Thank you.

The Redondo Beach police are certainly, certainly enforcing the directives down at the beach. I was there and watched them walking along telling people there was no parking nor occupying certain areas, and the people left. Furthermore, they used their police vehicles to block off south-bound traffic on The Esplanade, Catalina Avenue, and the alley between them. Finally, meter enforcement came along writing tickets.

We need your help My neighbors and I are concerned we see that Redondo Beach is now stopping all enforcement of the closed walkways and beaches allowing large gatherings without any protection. If it is now safe to congregate in large crowds and pack our beach then please let us know. It is unfair and confusing to stop enforcing rules and laws. Nothing more dangerous that a stop sign everyone knows is not enforced. Please let them know that public safety should be the first priority. Thank you

Cycling at the beach is not a crime. Medically better than walking or jogging for many people. It has built-in social distancing.

Freedom of movement, mobility rights, or the right to travel is a human rights concept … in 1215, the right to travel was enshrined in Article 42 of the Magna Carta

Please reopen LA County beaches for active sports such as surfing, running and windsurfing. Solo surfing does not spread disease! It is ridiculous that I can walk into a bar in LA County and get a cocktail to go but I can not walk onto Cabrillo Beach and go windsurfing.

Totally agree t Crowell! People are much more aware and compliant about social distancing now. The parking lots and piers are closed. This will prevent overcrowding. Swimming or Surfing our in the ocean does not spread the virus. Another idea, would be to open the beach from Monday- Friday only for awhile to see how it works.

I was down at the beach walking along the hard sand just this past Tuesday from approximately 4:45PM to 6:15PM and it was not at all overcrowded! People were at a minimum, 30 feet apart, a few were even in the water! It was a great day.

The closure of L.A. County Beaches is, at best, a case of “The Sky is Falling”, or at worst a bureaucrat power grab. OPEN THE BEACHES IMMEDIATELY! I mean IMMEDIATELY. You are asking for civil disobedience if not outright insurrection! People will not stand for this. This closure is absolutely insane!

Dino Smith! Ditto on that. Keep the beaches open. I posted about this issue here earlier on during this Wuhan situation. Hahn and the lot need to go.

There is not a one in a million chance you are going to get infected walking on the strand or sand in a 10 knot wind whether you are five feet apart or not. Keeping the beach closed is a worthless gesture to appease people who have no common sense and immediately take their fear to the extreme. Let those people make that choice but don’t ram that down everyone else’s throat.

Please keep beaches closed until numbers are decline. I have lived in Manhattan Beach for 51 years, from what I have seen on Nextdoor app, most residents want to stay the course and continue to #staysafer at home. I like the beach too, but we cannot safely social distance with groups parking, walking to the beach, crossing the Strand and bike path and putting life guards at risk. Prior to the ban on the beach, my 14 year old saw many, many posts on Snap Chat, etc of her friends at the beach in groups. We have chosen to walk around our neighborhood with a mask in lieu of the beach for the greater good. Perhaps when there is a significant decline, during a Phase 2 or 3 from Gov Newsom, you will make a reasonable reassessment based on scientific data. Thank you for all of your hard work 🙏🏽

We are Manhattan Beach longtime residents. Please consider re-opening our beaches and bike paths. Our freedom and civil liberties are being taken away. We need our SAFE open spaces back! There is no reason at all that the ocean should remain closed. Surfing and swimming are healthy and relieve stress during these dark times, and are easily practiced maintaining social distancing rules. Beaches in Hawaii are all open for exercise, as are Santa Barbara county beaches, and even Huntington Beach wit absolutely No problems. Our beaches and outdoor spaces keep us health and sane.
