Dear Ms. Hahn i pray u can assist me! I m a disable 62yr homeless person residing at Sunrise Hotel in San Pedro, CA thru LAHSA.org. I was recently notified thru LACDA of being reinstated to the Section 8 Wait List (ID# P000484), effective 12/06/2006! I’ve been offered housing from a concerned landlord but she’ll only rent to me if I have a Section 8 voucher. LACDA has told me their workers are on furlough or working at home and my voucher is on “freeze” until the Covid-19 virus epidemic has disappeared. Can u help me???

I manage a retail store on Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles and I beg you to stop asking for stores to be reopen before it is safer and we are further away from the peak. It is NOT safe for us and you know it. The economy is being placed before health. Economies recover dead is forever. You will have death on your hands can you live with that?

Please allow local business to reopen. The current COVID-19 death numbers do not support the lockdown. Can you tell me how Barbara Ferrer, a county health official, can have the authority to set the guidelines for reopening that seem to have no basis in science and are completely unreasonable. She has no sense of the damage being caused to small business.

Supv. Hahn, Please show me the science that sitting on the beach properly spaced is dangerous for anyone. Certainly it is much safer to be in the sun than shopping in Costco.
Allow businesses to open now with proper safeguards.
Don’t allow our rights to be taken away. Don’t allow LA County to go bankrupt.

seniors need to feel safe, seniors need to stay alive and seniors need everyone else to wear their damn [email protected]!Why can’t people see that Dr Ferrer and everyone else is just trying to keep us safe. The virus doesn’t care what kind of fun you want , it’s there to try and kill you, don’t give it that chance; value your life not your pleasures right now

Seniors need to sit in beach chairs with umbrellas.
Seniors need to ride their bicycles.
    Seniors need parking lots open.
Seniors demand Barbara Ferrer be fired.

It was just reported that you pay Barbara Ferrer $500,000 a year. Are you insane? She is neither a medical doctor nor a scientist. When this is all over it will either be her job or yours.

    Supervisor Hahn,
Please allow seniors, disabled, children and all to sit on the beach properly spaced under an umbrella with drinks and a picnic lunch. There is no reason to restrict sitting on the beach if properly spaced. Open up all parking lots.

Ms. Hann – We have done what was asked for the past 2 months. We have flattened the curve. Time to let ‘We the People’ decide how we open our businesses safely, when and how to exercise, go to work, etc. You are hurting Los Angeles and we will not forget how far you have taken this. Who is this Dr. Ferrer with here $485,000 / year salary paid for by taxpayers. Her briefings are useless, she stands there blurting out blah, blah, blah numbers without any analysis, or day over day comparisons. For that salary I expect graphs and in-depth data analysis rather than standing there reading a list of numbers that without any context as to how we are progressing and improving… totally useless. I hope to God she’s not the one making any decisions… she is not an elected official. Frankly she needs to step aside and bring in a professional.
Open up my beaches, nail salons, hair salons, barbers, restaurants. You will have the blood of people who’ve lost everything because of your power trip. WE THE PEOPLE can decide for ourselves how we go about our business safely; give us the information, we will decide. You are usurping the power of the people. We will take it back.

Can you explain why the bike paths along the beach are closed? The only people that ride bikes in concentrated groups are riding in the Tour de France, not along the beach. The chance of passing along an infection while riding between 5-10 miles per hour are much less than simply going to the market using PPE. This does not make any sense.

Re Marisa Martinez: Your selfish opinion of the rest of us is mind boggling. Please give back your pay check and pay your bills with what is left. Live off your saving account of 3 months+. We need to live and support our family.
Living with a ever present disease is gonna be part of our life, at least for the foreseeable future.
So either give up your pay check and stay home, or stop telling me to suck it up. You have no idea what loss of my Constitutional rights means.

Marisa Montanez: Thank you for your work. I work in a hospital too, I don’t go to work crying, nor I say “I would give up anything to stay at home”. I am happy to get out of the house. I fell very well protected at the hospital more than I am at Target. I wash my hands and sanitize which is the most important. I wish you well and agree with you 100% that people on this comment thread can be very rude, paranoid, and making a medical problem a political one. Take care and thank you again.

Please. No name calling. How about people read the Bill of Rights. I ask you to read it. I’ll start you off; here’s the first amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

BRAVO Marisa Montanez!!! Finally, the voice of reason from someone who is on the front line of this pandemic. Thank you for your service , there is no way we can ever repay you for putting your life on the line. The selfish comments on here are from people who are either ignorant, self centered or just people who don’t want to follow any rules. I have been in quarantine since March 11th and will probably have to stay inside for a very long time because selfish people refuse to do two simple things; wear a mask and social distance. It is just beyond comprehension. What really blows my mind is that they are comparing this to Nazi Germany. They haven’t a clue. It is rhetoric from the far right fringe. Thank you supervisor Hahn for standing strong and doing what is right to keep us all safe.

I’m in disbelief of the ignorance of people’s way of thinking and how selfish they sound it’s not all about you people that are mad because you have to stay home. I’m sorry you get to be home everyday where you are safe I’m sorry your board I’m sorry your upset because you feel your rights are being violated I’m sorry your having a tizzy fit! I don’t have a choice This is real people I face this Covid -19 head on everyday I’m a front line health care worker and it’s ignorant people like all you negative ones that are taking away our human rights and our freedom with your selfish thinking And wanting this order to stop think about your neighbors your friends your coworkers and there safety stop thinking about your self and how tired you are of having to social distance and mask up it’s up to us the public how far this goes the less we listen and not comply with these orders the worse the spread will get so take accountability for your own actions be mad at your selfs for not complying because you and your ignorant way of thinking is what going to spread the Covid virus eventually I will see you in my hospital and it won’t be no ones fault but your own for not complying with what is being asked of us. For god sake stop being selfish and stop bashing our system and the people that are working so hard to keep us safe, I would give anything to have the option to stay home but I don’t I have to work everyday in my hospital scared to death that I might catch the virus you don’t know what that’s like waking up everyday thinking is today the day I’m going to catch the virus due to my line of work. Literally in tears driving to work tears of fear But I chose the health care industry for a career patients and my community count on me and that’s what keeps me going. So please stop the negative thinking and be great full we live in a great place Be great full Covid -19 has not touch you or your loved ones just be great full and back off a bit all theses professionals know what they are doing let them do it and please stop being so negative. Ms.Hahn please continue to do what you do you are a true warrior please continue to keep me and my family my community my city safe I trust in you and that you will do what’s best in helping us all be safe I thank you for your courage and knowledge thank you just for all that you do.

Dear Ms. Hahn, thank you for your response to my post yesterday. Unfortunately your response does not address the unconstitutional lock down imposed on regular citizens.
Please see this part of your candid response:
“But this crisis is not over. It is important to remember that until we have a vaccine, we are not any safer from this virus than we were in March. This virus has not gotten any less contagious or any less deadly. Everyone should continue to practice physical distancing and wear face coverings when in public.”
We know there is no vaccine, there also in no magic cure for gun violence, vehicular manslaughter, all cancers, mental health.
So continuing a state of emergency when the initial emergency is over, and now we are in a standard place. You must restoe our rights as Americans.

To any else you reads this, DO NOT FORGET WHAT THESE LEADERS HAVE DONE DURING FUTURE ELECTIONS. FAILURE TO RESPECT OUR BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS.
Helping us to remember safe practice to reduce the spread is a far cry from massive jailing of normal, citizens. **reminder: Germany 1938.

Shame on you for extending a mandate without adequate information to support it. None of the population do Los Angeles county want to get sick, but sick we get every single year and never before in the history of our state have our government overreached. We have had polio, yellow fever, scarlet fever, H1N1, H2,N2, SARS, Rhuematic Fever, etc and the people’s constitutional rights were never taken away. It is shameful. You are destroying people’s lives while waiting for what? A vaccine. That is unacceptable logic! Adequate vaccines take years to develop and even kill thousands and negatively affect millions. Will we even have an economy at all when this vaccine is released, and will it be safe? There will be no studies to show its effectiveness! I will not be taking that cool aid! Multiple studies have shown the death rate for covid-19 is 0.1-0.2%. There is ample scientific data to show that covid-19 is not the threat those in LA County Department of Health and those in State government have projected. The supposed reason for the government shutdown was to prevent our hospitals from being overburdened, hospitals were never at that point in California. Currently UCLA medical centers have a population of 33 covid-19 patients. We have flattened the curve and the fact is some will get sick and some will die as happens every year with the flu. But our entire stay will be in bankruptcy for these few deaths. You had no justification to pass measures in the first place. The public complied and now you are power hungry and our constitutional rights are being violated. Our legal system in time will find that state officials are violating our constitutional rights as did the Supreme Court of Wisconsin! Epidemiologists are projecting the loss of life caused by the government overreach will cause suffering and loss of life in numbers far greater than covid-19 ever would. Why do you not care about their lives? There will be no re-election for any of the Los Angeles county board members. They are not looking out for the people they were sworn to protect and represent.

Since the Redondo Beach Police is refusing to enforce any of the restrictions at the beach especially the face mask requirement, does that mean that the rules are optional and subject to the whims of each city? The RBPD officers have said they are not enforcing the restrictions and are only there for appearance.

I second that motion, Emily Meyer! What is going on here in California is just ABSURD! I feel like I’m living in the twilight zone! This is not about people’s health! This is about Control, Power, and destroying President Trump. I am shocked and disgusted that people, in this case, our Liberal/Democrat “Leaders”, can be so calculating and so EVIL! Stop the mandates effective immediately. According to serology studies by both USC and Stanford University, death rate for covid-19 is 0.1-0.2%. Hospital staff is being furloughed and hours cut for nurses because there is historically low patient population. At this point, LA County Supervisors and those in power, are unjustified in these measures, and taking any measures that affect business, the lives of children, and any other American citizen. You had no justification to pass measures in the first place, may our legal system find that state officials are violating our constitutional rights as the Supreme Court of Wisconsin did yesterday. Never before in the history of our state have our government overreached. We have had polio, yellow fever, scarlet fever, H1N1, H2,N2, SARS, Rhuematic Fever, etc and the people’s constitutional rights were never taken away. It is shameful. I am so exasperated by so many of these negative & nasty comments. Though I would love to be free to do as I wish…go out, see friends, shop, go to the movies & so on, I know that it would only endanger myself as well as those with whom I would come in contact. Thank you, our county & state for safeguarding us as best as the medical & scientific community recommends. I would rather be safe at home than dead or to have infected others.

Dear Supervisor Hahn, it is shocking to me that Los Angeles County continues to suffer incidences of COVID-19 infection and death. Dr. Barbara Ferrer has done nothing to justify her very high salary and should be fired. Her ineptitude has caused the people of Los Angeles County to experience great economic and emotional hardship. You should require that she present a plan for getting infection and death numbers out of control. All we are receiving are disheartening daily numbers, which she seems powerless to deal with.

The County Board of Supervisors is in no way connected with the people of this county. Recent comments from Hilda Solis, snitch on people who violate heath orders.
STOP you insane ideas. GET us back to work.
You have shown no leadership, just keep listening to that stupid Dr.Ferrar. Nothing of any value to those of us suffering.
There will be nothing left of this society, nothing left of CA, nothing left of LA County.
10 million people and a few have died.
This reminds me of the early days of the Nazi party. Snitching on the jews, running them out of business. taking their livelihood. And at this point on LA County you have the same fascist politician as those days in 1930 Germany.

Please consider small businesses and their employees, and the County’s citizens’ need to put food on the table and live their lives again when making decisions regarding opening up our community. This is complicated and there is a lot at stake. And it difficult to comprehend why the County is so heavily relying upon the opinion of the Director of the L.A. County Department of Public Health, who is not a medical doctor, but has a Ph.D. in Social Welfare. The county needs to consider the will of the people and be mindful that there is growing public opinion that is saying we need to open up our businesses and community. Otherwise, I fear the county is risking widespread civil disobedience – which will only make matters worse.
