LA County Board of Supervisors Back Federal Coronavirus Relief Bill

Los Angeles, CA – Today, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to support a motion by Supervisor Janice Hahn calling on Congress to pass the latest COVID-19 federal relief package.

“The CARES Act was critical funding for us at the beginning of this pandemic—but we have been largely abandoned by the federal government since then,” said Supervisor Janice Hahn. “We need another round of funding so we can pay businesses to stay closed and get help to people who have lost their jobs. This should have happened months ago, but it is not too late. The vaccine is coming but we are still months away from it being widely available.”

The motion considered Tuesday calls for the Board of Supervisors to send a five-signature letter in support of the recent bipartisan $908 billion Federal Pandemic Relief Proposal and any other Federal proposals that will help provide critical relief to the County and its residents.

“It has to be said that this $900 billion proposal is nowhere near enough – but it is something and it is a start,” said Supervisor Hahn. “I am hopeful that the incoming Biden Administration will be able to strike a much larger deal in the New Year.”
