Hahn Requests Highway Sign Inspection after Viral Accident

Los Angeles, CA— Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn has requested that Caltrans inspect the state’s highway signs after a video of a large highway sign falling onto an unsuspecting driver in Australia went viral.

Text of the Supervisor’s letter to Caltrans is below:

I was horrified when I saw footage of a highway sign that came crashing down on an unsuspecting Australian motorist driving on Melbourne’s Tullamarine Freeway. Footage of the crash was caught by the dashcam of a car behind her and went viral on social media.

In light of this incident, I would like to request that Caltrans inspect highway signs across the state to ensure that a similar accident does not happen here.

I appreciate your attention to this issue and the work you do every day on behalf of California drivers.
