Supervisor Hahn Releases Statement on 2017 Clean Air Action Plan

San Pedro, CA-Today, Supervisor Janice Hahn released the following statement on the 2017 Clean Air Action Plan released today by the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach:

“Since we enacted the first Clean Air Action Plan in 2006, we have proven that we do not need to choose between clean air and good jobs. Port pollution has dropped dramatically even while our ports handle more cargo than ever before. Yet, the Ports of LA and Long Beach continue to be the single largest source of pollution in the region-contributing not only to climate change but to health problems for families living in port communities.

The 2017 Clean Air Action Plan builds on the success of the last decade and invests port profits into developing new clean technology.  Ultimately, we need to get to a point where our ports are zero-emissions-but this plan puts that bold vision into focus.”
