Supervisor Hahn Invites South Whittier Skaters to Help Design New Skate Park

South Whittier, CA– Supervisor Janice Hahn is inviting local skaters to lend their ideas and expertise to design the new skate park coming to Mayberry Park in South Whittier.

“The Mayberry Skate Park is becoming a reality,” said Supervisor Janice Hahn. “I want this to be a skate park that is fun and accessible to local skaters. Who better to help design it than local skaters themselves?”

The two million dollar project, funded by LA County Proposition A excess funds and being implemented by the LA Neighborhood Land Trust, is still in the beginning design stages. Supervisor Hahn, the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, and the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust will hold two design workshops in the coming weeks at the Mayberry Senior Center.

Workshop participants will review different design options and be able to make suggestions about the types of structures and terrains they want incorporated in the final plans.  No design experience is necessary – community members and skaters of all levels are encouraged to participate.

“I encourage skaters from across the Whittier area to come to one or both of these workshops and help us create the skate park of your dreams,” said Supervisor Janice Hahn.
