Supervisor Hahn Gives $90,000 to Clean San Pedro and Clean Wilmington

San Pedro, CA- Today, Supervisor Janice Hahn presented checks to two local harbor-area organizations, Clean San Pedro and Clean Wilmington, totaling $90,000. Both are grassroots organizations made up of local residents that dedicate their time to cleaning and beautifying their neighborhoods. Each organization was given $45,000 from the office of Supervisor Janice Hahn to support their ongoing efforts.

“For the better part of the last decade, Clean San Pedro and Clean Wilmington have dedicated countless hours to bettering their communities and making both San Pedro and Wilmington cleaner, safer, and more beautiful places to live,” said Supervisor Hahn. “Their efforts have not gone unnoticed or unappreciated and I am happy to support their ongoing work with this funding.”

Clean San Pedro and Clean Wilmington volunteers and staff remove weeds and grass from sidewalks and curbs, clean up litter from sidewalks, steam-clean bus shelters and benches, collect stray shopping carts and return them to stores, report large debris in alleys, and report graffiti for removal.

Supervisor Hahn holds $45,000 check alongside Coleen Moody of SBCC Thrive LA, Salvador Lara, and volunteers from iHeart Wilmington.

Clean Wilmington is led by notable Wilmington activist and resident, Salvador Lara.  In early, 2016, Clean Wilmington joined the South Bay Center for Counseling (SBCC) under the iHeart Wilmington Initiative and has since contributed to increased public participation clean-ups.
