Hahn Applauds SCAQMD Action to Combat Odors from Paramount Metal Plant

Paramount, CA—Today, Supervisor Janice Hahn applauded the decision by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) to pursue an order of abatement against Carlton Forge, a Paramount metal plant which has long been the subject of local residents complaints of odors.

“For years, residents of Paramount have complained about the odors coming from Carlton Forge,” said Supervisor Hahn.  “My constituents have suffered from headaches and nosebleeds and the overwhelming stench metal and burning rubber.  Not only do these odors pose a health concern for local residents, this is a serious quality of life issue and I applaud the SCAQMD for taking action against Carlton Forge.”

Hahn also asked the County Department of Public Health to issue a health directive to Carlton Forge to strengthen and add to the SCAQMD’s order.

“I am hopeful that this Order of Abatement forces Carlton Forge to control the odors,” Hahn continued. “However, should the order not be strong enough I have asked the County Department of Public Health to issue our own health directive to protect the health and well-being of Paramount residents.”
